City of New Orleans, Ochsner Health Systems and Tulane PRC using FoodCare community nutrition platform

We're proud to announce the launch of the Fit NOLA app in partnership with the City of New Orleans, Ochsner Health System, the Tulane Prevention Research Center and over 200 more local organizations, businesses and non-profits who are helping to make New Orleans a healthier city.

The Fit NOLA App, powered by Ochsner's Eat Fit NOLA initiative is available free for download in the App Store (iTunes) and Google Play

"With the release of the Fit NOLA App we have reached a tipping point in how public health agencies coordinate and collaborate with community-based healthcare providers, non-profits and employers" said City of New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "Our community has moved beyond fragmented, one-off projects spread across hundreds of organizations and we are now deploying integrated and sustainable community engagement solutions with the aim of making New Orleans a top ten fittest city by our 300th anniversary in 2018."

We think the Fit NOLA app is great step forward. It provides New Orleans residents with a simple (free) tool for personalized nutrition guidance based on diet preferences, chronic diseases, life stages, weight management goals and food preferences. The Fit NOLA app allows you to find healthy menu choices based on your location, including restaurants with Eat Fit NOLA options. It also has local community information such as free fitness classes and farmers markets near you.

FoodCare is just getting started!

We couldn't have done this without the help of many different organizations: Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Charlotte Parent (Director of Health, New Orleans), Molly Kimball and the Eat Fit NOLA team at Ochsner Health System, Doc Griggs, Whitney Mitchell, Shelbi Flynn and Katherine Cain (thanks guys)!
